Emmanuel Adebayor Reckons He Can Still Win The Ballon d'Or

He still has faith.

Former Premier League striker Emmanuel Adebayor says he is still dreaming of winning a Ballon d'Or.

The Togolese striker has been around the block, playing for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Crystal Palace - as well as turning out on loan for Real Madrid.

Despite his well-travelled career, Adebayor hasn't had many prizes to show for it - he is yet to win a league title and his only club honour is the Copa Del Rey he won when on loan at Real in 2010/11.

But this season, with Istanbul Başakşehir in Turkey, the 33-year old perhaps has his best chance of winning a league title.

After being released by Crystal Palace in June 2016, he joined the club a year ago and scored seven goals as they finished runners up in 2016-17.

Continuing to supply the goals this season, Adebayor is the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig - his eight goals helping Abudallah Avci's side to the top of the table, where they are one point clear of Galatasaray.

And though Adebayor isn't satisfied with his career achievements, he believes a league title could put him on contention for the most coveted individual accolade in football.

"I had dreamt of playing for Arsenal and Real Madrid and those dreams came true," Adebayor told Turkish outlet Hurriyet.

"Maybe I can dream of winning the Ballon d'Or and that can come true as well.

"I'm not really happy with my football career but I can't complain about it either. I'm still alive, so I can keep dreaming."

Fair play for aiming high, Emmanuel, but something tells us there are quite a few players in a better position to win a Ballon d'Or than you.

In other random Adebayor-related news, he confirmed he is looking after the son left behind by his late older brother Peter - and has named him "Junior Emmanuel Adebayor".
