Crystal Palace Mock Former Striker Dwight Gayle For Appearing To Steal Merch

He might be a Newcastle United player now but Dwight Gayle still can't let go of his Crystal Palace stuff.

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been busted by former side Crystal Palace after the Premier League side caught him still using a bag from his days in South London.

Who doesn't love a freebie and it's even better when you steal it from work. Look if they're going to make me actually do my job then the least they can do is let me steal a pen or two.

The thing is if you've ever done that, and let's be honest most people have, then the last thing you're likely to do is make it known that you've nicked any of the supplies, it's not going on your social media for example.

Well it seems that footballers aren't so good at being subtle about what they've stolen, potentially because they get so much free swag that they're supposed to show off that it's difficult to differentiate.

That might well have been Dwight Gayle's problem. The Newcastle forward has been pictured using a Crystal Palace bag to carry his stuff around St James' Park on match day, and they want it back:

Another former team wants to know if he's got some of their merch too:

The best thing is that it looks like Gayle, or someone in his household, has been wary of him getting pictured with the bag and found out that someone's tried to remove the badge so you can no longer tell it's from Palace.

Gayle played for Palace for two and a half years in the Premier League before moving to Newcastle whilst they were still in the Championship. During his time in South London he scored just 15 Premier League goals, including a brace in the infamous comeback against Liverpool from 3-0 down to 3-3.

This season the 29 year old has contributed five goals to Newcastle's effort to stay in the Premier League as Rafa Benitez has done wonders on a small budget.

Mike Ashley might not be spending a lot of money but surely he could have got Gayle a new bag from Sports Direct...
