Jamie Carragher hasn't taken kindly to Danny Simpson calling him out on wearing an Everton training kit.

The Liverpool legend was yesterday pictured wearing the gear as he filmed a promo with the club ahead of one of their upcoming games.

As expected, he took some stick from fans - but the majority realise there's no doubting his support for the Anfield club and that sometimes the job requires you to do things you wouldn't normally do.

Yet Leicester full-back Simpson has emerged as a surprise critic just days after Carragher was critical of his side's performance in the 3-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night.

That result came in the first game after the shock sacking of Claudio Ranieri, with Simpson part of a Leicester team that looked more like Premier League champions of last season than relegation battlers of this one.

At first we weren't sure if Simpson had Carragher's comments in the back of his mind when he sent the tweet.

But this comment confirms that was the case:

And then came another Carragher response - which we thought was surprisingly tame for his standards:

No doubt there will be more to this Twitter exchange throughout the day so we'll update you as and when it happens.

And they did.
