Social media was awash with praise for Trent Alexander-Arnold after the full backs display against Bournemouth on Saturday and even drew comparisons with Jamie Carragher. The legendary Liverpool defender had a great response.

It's not that long ago that Trent Alexander-Arnold was being criticised for his part in Marcus Rashford's first goal in Liverpool loss to Manchester United. That seemed harsh but it was a reminder to the 19 year old just how tough the Premier League can be.

Arnold will surely make the Euro 2020 squad:

Well since then the teenage right back has been absolutely smashing life. His displays against Manchester City in the Champions League drew universal praise and he was at it again on Saturday.

His performance against Bournemouth was brilliant and his excellent cross set up Mo Salah for one of the goals in a 3-0 win that was never in doubt. And with that game many took to Twitter to call for the Reds youngster to go to Russia this summer for the World Cup.

As well as those calls some were comparing him to Jamie Carragher and the former Red had the perfect response:

Carragher didn't score too many in his career and when he did put the ball in the back of the net it was usually his own. He has the second most own goals in the Premier League's history with seven, three behind Richard Dunne and level with fellow former Red Martin Skrtel.

In fact the 40 year old scored just four times in the correct goal during his Premier League career, that in 508 games. Granted he often played as a centre back but that's still a very poor return.

Carra is second on the all time appearance list for the Reds and many fans will be thinking their new hero could go on to overtake him, if Alexander-Arnold gets anywhere close he'll have had a hell of a career.

Should Gareth Southgate call him up for the World Cup this summer?
