France's Jules Kounde Was Sent Off For Shocking Tackle That Forced Sead Kolasinac To Go Off

France's Jules Kounde Was Sent Off For Shocking Tackle That Forced Sead Kolasinac To Go Off

Jules Kounde was initially shown a yellow card but it was upgraded to a red card upon VAR review.

France's Jules Kounde was sent off for a horrendous tackle on Arsenal's Sead Kolasinac last night.

Les Bleus drew 1-1 with Bosnia, with Antoine Griezmann striking three minutes after Edin Dzeko put the visitors ahead in Strasbourg.

But France found themselves down to ten men early on in the second half when Kounde was given his marching orders.

The Sevilla defender, who was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer, lunged in on Kolasinac after he had tackle Kylian Mbappe.

Kounde was late and dangerously dived in near the corner flag, his tackle comfortably one of the worst you will have seen in recent times.

The 22-year-old was initially shown a yellow card for the challenge but when the referee watched the replays on the VAR screen, it was always going to be upgraded to a red.

Kolasinac was not able to continue and it was a miracle he didn't end up with a broken leg or other serious injury.

Chelsea were pushing hard to sign Kounde as late as this week, having let his compatriot Kurt Zouma leave for West Ham in a £29 million deal.

However, Sevilla were playing hard-ball and refused to let him leave for anything less than his £68.5 million release clause.

But after seeing this shocker of a challenge on Wednesday night, his value might just have gone down a tad - and you wouldn't be too surprised if Chelsea had second thoughts.
