The West Brom striker and the Everton midfielder were involved in a clash that saw the Irishman stretchered off.

No one wants to see any player get stretchered off injured, least of all when you've accidentally been involved in the issue and Salomon Rondon was visibly upset watching James McCarthy be taken off during West Brom's game with Everton.

West Brom and Everton are both sides battling to stay away from the relegation zone right now, even if Sam Allardyce has taken the Toffees to a safer place than where he started from.

It would have come as no surprise if it had been a combative match but it wasn't a bad challenge that has reportedly ended in Everton midfielder James McCarthy with a double leg break.

Instead it was an almost innocuous challenge from the Irishman as Salomon Rondon went to kick the ball with the forward already through his kick and he had to be consoled by his own teammate as the injured player was stretchered off:

Jay Rodriguez gave Alan Pardew's side the lead in the first half before Sam Allardyce threw on Oumar Niasse, with the decision being booed by his own fans, and the substitute scored the equaliser.

The Toffees will now be without McCarthy for the rest of the season and we wish him well on his recovery and eventual comeback.
