Garth Crooks Isn't Impressed With Alexandre Lacazette's Celebration

Arsenal fans have rushed to criticise Crooks, despite the fact the Gunners' striker gets in team of the week for his goal against Everton.

Garth Crooks has irked Arsenal fans after going all 'Graeme Souness talking about Paul Pogba' in his criticism of Alexandre Lacazette and the Frenchman's match winning goal against Everton on Sunday.

Once upon a time Garth Crooks' Team of the Week article was a weekly feature on SPORTbible. The former Spurs forward wasn't writing for us but his selections every Monday for BBC Sport certainly caught our attention.

The man who sits of the 'Final Score' couch on a near weekly basis giving his opinions in as dour and angry a manner as is humanly possible would baffle the viewing public as he would select daft formations and players in the wrong position just in a bid to force them into his side.

Someone at the BBC must have had serious words with him because in the recent months Crooks has reined himself in and now his Team of the Weeks tend to be pretty sensible.

This week Crooks has once again been on the ball by picking Alexandre Lacazette for his brilliant strike in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon. However he's undone all his hard work by criticising the forward for his dance celebration, saying:

" In the end, one goal was enough to win the game against Everton, and when you score a superb goal like Alexandre Lacazette's one for Arsenal, you are entitled to celebrate. What I don't get is the appalling disco jig that follows. Why spoil such a wonderful finish with such a spine-chilling dance? What's wrong with punching the air or running to the crowd?"

I mean, come on. The celebration?! Allow the guy to have a little fun. Dancing around doesn't make the goal any worse, or worth any less, it doesn't make someone a bad player and it doesn't mean they aren't working hard.

Arsenal fans didn't take too kindly to the criticism either:

Seriously Garth don't you have anything better to do with your time?

At least when he was picking ridiculous formations and the like it was entertaining, this is just sad. Souness would be proud.
