Neymar is in risk of missing out on the Champions League final, after the Brazilian broke one of the Covid-19 protocols at the end of the semi-final against RB Leipzig.

PSG were in fine form against the German underdogs on Tuesday night and Neymar's beautiful back-heeled assist for Angel di Maria might have been the moment of the night.

After excellent performances in the quarter and semi finals Neymar is key to the French champions chances of becoming European champions for the first time, but he could miss the final.

At full time he was seen swapping shirts with Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg. That goes against the rules put in place because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

UEFA's protocols state, "Players are recommended to refrain from swapping their shirts," and not sticking to protocols "may lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations."

The rules don't state that shirt swapping leads to a player needing to self-isolate and nor does it specifically say what disciplinary measures will be used so there's no guarantee of a suspension.

On top of that, the fact that not swapping shirts is merely 'recommended' potentially means that the former Barcelona star will only get a slap on the wrist.

The 28-year-old forward is in his third season at PSG but has been injured as the club have been knocked out of the Champions League in the previous two seasons.

With the French season cut short because of Covid-19 he has been fresh for the mini tournament to finish the European competition and has been in fine form.

He is yet to score but had a fine game against Atalanta, other than his finishing, and was again excellent in the semi-final, with his back heel to Di Maria rounding off the performance.

The former Santos player will be eyeing a second Champions League win, having helped Barcelona to beat Juventus in the 2015 final.

Neymar was on the scoresheet on that night and, as long as he doesn't miss the game on Sunday for his shirt swapping, he'll no doubt be desperate to get on the board again in Lisbon.
