Granit Xhaka aimed a big dig at Arsenal fans after posting on Instagram about his 'happiness' following playing for Switzerland in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Georgia.

The former Arsenal captain was stripped of the armband and dropped following his run in with the fans when being taken off in the team's draw with Crystal Palace in October.

Fans booed the Swiss midfielder as he left the pitch and he shouted back, telling them to 'f*ck off,' leading to him losing his place in the team.

On Friday he played 90 minutes for his national team, as they beat Georgia, and took to Instagram after the match posting picture from the game with the caption, "Happiness is when you are satisfied with yourself and do not need the confirmation of others."

Arsenal were leading 2-0 against Palace on October 27th, after just nine minutes, but the south London side got back into the game with goals from Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew to level it up at 2-2 after 52 minutes.

Xhaka, who was voted to become club captain by his teammates earlier in the season, was taken off nine minutes after Ayew's equaliser.

The former Basel midfielder walked off the pitch and his lack of urgency was the final straw for the already frustrated fans at the Emirates and they started to boo him.

At the beginning of November boss Emery revealed he didn't know if the 27-year-old would play for the team again, saying, "We need a player like Granit Xhaka. But also, I don't know if he's going to play again. I don't know, because if he is available in his mind to continue helping us and continuing defending the Arsenal shirt, I think time is giving us that solution."

Things haven't got any better at the Emirates since Xhaka left the pitch in disgrace with a loss to Leicester City and a draw with Wolves in the league, being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool and drawing with Vitoria in the Europa League.

Will Xhaka leave north London in January?
