Whilst the majority of the footballing world is happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo back at Old Trafford, it appears that one man, the superstar that is Zlatan Ibrahimović, isn't so keen.

It's been revealed that the 39 year old, who currently plays for AC Milan, was critical of Ronaldo's previous spell at Manchester United, where he claims the latter was carried by teammate Wayne Rooney.

"When he played with Cristiano Ronaldo, all the work was done by Rooney," Ibrahimović told the BBC in 2015, as quoted by GiveMeSport. "But he didn't get the credit because Ronaldo was scoring all of the goals.

These great players, they have their moments over one to three years. But to continue over five years, for ten years the way Wayne Rooney has done is not easy. It's pressure every day playing for a big team."

Ever the man for a controversial comment, Zlatan's swipe at Ronaldo feels very unfair. Before the Portuguese international left United in 2009, he won three consecutive Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups. He won several individual awards too, including the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year in 2008.

Zlatan's praise for Ronaldo's former United co-star Wayne Rooney explains a lot about the two's chemistry while at United together in the 2016/2017 season. Together, the pair helped the club win the League Cup and Europa League finals, the last two pieces of silverware Manchester United have had their hands on.

"He runs a lot, he fights a lot, he sacrifices a lot," Ibrahimović continued. "I'd prefer to have him in my team than play against me.

I've not been lucky enough to play with him but I enjoy seeing him on the pitch- if I cannot play with him, I will watch him."

Ronaldo is expected to make his long-awaited return for The Red Devils this weekend when they host Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon. It's believed that tickets are selling for over £2,000 for the former Juventus man's second debut, with shirt sales through the roof too.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimović will continue his extraordinary career at the San Siro for at least another year after signing a contract extension in the spring. This will mean that Sweden's all-time leading goal scorer will still be playing top flight professional football at the age of 40.

Regardless of what you think about his comments about Ronaldo, that is one hell of an achievement.
