Son Heung-Min Scores Four Goals From Four Harry Kane Assists Against Southampton

A seven-goal thriller between Spurs and Saints saw the same goal-assist combo four times...

Son Heung-min has scored four goals in Tottenham's 5-2 Premier League win against Southampton - with all four coming via assists by Harry Kane.

Saints must have felt like it was Groundhog Day at St Mary's as they conceded four goals via the exact same method of provider and scorer. All this after Danny Ings had actually put them 1-0 up in the first half.

After that, it was a new TV show debuting on BT Sport: 'Kane and Son'. Many feel that the Tottenham and England striker hasn't been as effective at dropping deep in recent seasons as he's battled a few niggling injuries.

Yet here he did his best Christian Eriksen impression as he sprayed out some terrific passes and crosses, with the razor-sharp Son gobbled up. By 75 minutes, Spurs were 4-1 up - and Kane himself got the reward for his generous play with a tap-in to make it 5-1. An Ings penalty made it 5-2 before full-time.

That Kane goal (plus the penalty) were the only really ordinary goals in a game packed with quality finishes.

The pick of the Kane-Son goals - and clearly there were plenty to choose from - was probably the fourth as Kane whipped in a perfect cross and Son smoothly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

That set a new record: the first time in Premier League history that one player had given four assists to the same teammate in a game. Who needs Gareth Bale after all?

Also, hands up who had both Kane and Son in their Fantasy Premier League team for this week. You will be in the points just like Spurs, who claimed their first Premier League win of the season.
