One of the funniest moments of tonight's Champions League feast of action came at the Parc des Princes before a ball was even kicked between Paris Saint Germain and RB Leipzig.

Kylian Mbappé was standing in the tunnel just moments before walking out onto the pitch when the referee's whistle prompted the perturbed superstar to suddenly raise his arms in the air, like you would do when swatting away a wasp at a picnic.

Teammate Marco Verratti was also taken aback by the high-pitched whistle, but his response was more conventional as he squinted his eyes and covered his left ear.

That whistle seemed to spark Mbappé into action, as the Frenchman gave PSG a ninth-minute lead with a close-range finish at the end of a sweeping move.

The goal continued the 22-year-old's excellent form in the Champions League, with this latest strike meaning he has now been directly involved in 45 goals across 48 games in the competition - 28 goals and 17 assists to be more precise.

Any PSG joy was short-lived though thanks to Andre Silva's equaliser for Leipzig just shy of the half-hour mark, before Nordi Mukiele gave the Germans a surprise lead. Lionel Messi responded to bring the hosts back on level terms and then made it 3-2 with an audacious Panenka penalty.
