Jose Mourinho was videoed congratulating his former Manchester United players at full-time yesterday.

The 56-year-old fell to his first defeat as Spurs manager after a Marcus Rashford double sealed a 2-1 victory for under pressure Ole Gunner Solskjaer's side.

Following the game, he was videoed embracing his Spurs players as well as congratulating Rashford and Victor Lindelof.

Some United fans appreciated the class shown by their former manager.

Mourinho won the Carabao Cup and Europa League in his two and a half years as United manager.

But high profile disputes with star players such as Paul Pogba in addition to poor results led to him leaving in December of last year.

One player he did strike up a relationship with is United's Scott McTominay.

The 22-year-old made his return last night after an injury lay-off and he was a key man in midfield.

Mourinho is the man who gave McTominay his United debut and he spoke glowingly about the Scotsman post match.

He explained per Metro that he'd warned his Spurs players of the threat McTominay offered.

"I told them about Old Trafford, I told them about some of their players.

"Like for example, McTominay the way they immediately show aggression in the beginning of the game.

"Rashford even going to press the keeper, this kind of attitude that shows initially intensity.

"But we were not in the game in the beginning."

Dele Alli scored a sublime strike to get Spurs back into the game after Rashford's opener.

But Moussa Sissoko brought Rashford down for a penalty in the second half which the England man coolly netted past Paulo Gazzaniga.

It was a miserable return to Manchester for Jose who even saw himself taken out by Daniel James.

James fell into him on the touchline following a 50:50 with Harry Winks.

The clash left the United winger needing treatment while Jose grimaced in pain.
