Premier League Title Race - How Liverpool Can Win The League This Week

Here's how Liverpool can be crowned Premier League champions for the first time in their history...

All 20 Premier League sides have now played their first game since the restart with Sean Dyche's Burnley the last to do so, although they may wish that they never had!

Pep Guardiola made eight changes to the side that beat Arsenal yet still saw his Manchester City side cruise to a 5-0 victory with England youngster Phil Foden the standout player last night.

That means the title race is still alive, albeit only just and here's what needs to happen for Liverpool to clinch their first ever Premier League crown.

The most simple equation is that Liverpool now need just five more points to secure their status as Premier League champions. They host Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening at Anfield but could be confirmed as champions the following night if Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

If both Liverpool and Manchester City win this week then Jurgen Klopp's men would win the title if they manage to avoid defeat in their next Premier League game which is against, you guessed it, reigning champions Manchester City.

A point at the Etihad Stadium next week would see Liverpool win the top division title for the first time in 30 years.

Given that Liverpool need just five points from eight games, the title is all but theirs. Our friends at ODDSbible have said that the bookies make them 1/1000 favourites to claim the title with Manchester City a huge 80/1 to snatch it from their grasp.
