English personality Piers Morgan believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi. This is due to Ronaldo playing in four different leagues throughout his career while Messi has stayed in Spain.

The Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate now seems like it's been going for an eternity.

With both players sharing the Ballon D'Or trophy every year since 2008 (besides that one exception), Ronaldo and Messi will go down as two of the top five players of all time, if not the top two.

However, rather than appreciating the fact that we get to see two of the best to ever play be in the game at the same time, the argument continues.

English personality Piers Morgan has chimed in with his thoughts on the Ronaldo-Messi argument, believing that Ronaldo is the better of the two due to him being successful in different countries.

"I look at Messi and see a guy who's been at one club, he's never done it on the international stage, his record in the Champions League is nowhere near as good as Ronaldo's in terms of goals scored in the final stages."

"But Ronaldo's done it on the international stage, he's done it in four countries, and he's been a brilliant player in four countries. Portugal, Britain, Spain, and now Italy."

Ronaldo started his career at Sporting CP, making his senior debut in 2002 and going on to play 31 times that season, scoring five goals and creating four assists. Manchester United then snapped him up for a transfer fee of around £13 million in 2003 and went onto win three Premier Leagues, a Champions League, and a Ballon D'Or.

When he was sold by United to Real Madrid for £80 million in 2009, Ronaldo won another four Champions League medals, two La Liga trophies, and a staggering 450 goals and 132 assists in 438 games.

While Lionel Messi has spent 16 seasons in Barcelona's senior team, winning four Champions League medals, 10 La Liga titles, and a plethora of other trophies, as well as an incredible 530 goals and 278 assists in 727 games.

Even though Ronaldo has been very successful in two countries and seems to be adding Italy to that tally, we should rather appreciate what Ronaldo has done for United, Real Madrid and soon-to-be Juventus, while also appreciating Messi's astonishing career at Barcelona.
