Pele has tweeted Kylian Mbappe after the France international took the world by storm with a blistering performance last night.

France beat Argentina 4-3, in one of the most breathtaking World Cup encounters in history.

Mbappe scored a brace, but it wasn't just his goals that got people talking, it was his overall game, the fact that he's so young and yet is doing so much on the world stage. He might not have become an overnight star - everyone is well aware of the Paris Saint Germain striker's ability - but with the performance last night, people have started to really take notice.

And if there was one person you'd want to validate your performance, it would Brazil legend Pele.

Often considered the greatest player of all time, Pele knows all too well about the World Cup. In fact, he was the last teenager to score a brace in the tournament.

Back in the 1958 World Cup final, Pele announced himself as an all-time great with two expertly-taken goals against Sweden. The South Americans won the game 5-2, and Pele was born into a star.

Now a footballing ambassador, Pele recognised the PSG star Mbappe's brilliant performance and tweeted the teenager, paying him a huge compliment.

After the match, a delighted Mbappe told press: "I'm very happy, and it's flattering to be compared to a great player like Pele but he's in another category.

"Still, it's great to join the list of players that have achieved such feats."

There's certainly much more to come from Mbappe. At just 19-years-old, he could well start becoming involved in discussions about the Ballon d'Or now. The question remains, however, is the Ligue 1 a big enough platform for such a huge talent?

We'll let you decide that one.
