Usain Bolt may be the fastest man in history but he believes one Premier League player could potentially beat him in a race over a shorter distance.

Bolt, 36, still holds the world record for 100m, running the race in just 9.58 seconds back in 2009 in Berlin.

He is also the world-record holder for the 200m, clocking an incredible 19.19 seconds, also in 2009.

After retiring from sprinting, Bolt attempted to become professional in a completely different sport - football.

He trained with Norwegian side Stromsgodset and later joined A-League side Central Coast Mariners, even scoring twice in a friendly match for the Australian club.

Bolt was reportedly offered a professional contract in Australia but turned it down before giving up his dream of becoming a pro footballer.

Bolt is a well-known Manchester United supporter and has visited Old Trafford many times down the years.

Predictably, he has been challenged to races by players at the club's Carrington training base.

Despite being the fastest man on the planet over 100m, Bolt revealed to talkSPORT that one player in the Premier League could actually best him for speed.

Darren Bent asked him: "I read an article where you said that [Marcus] Rashford could beat you over 20 yards, is that correct?"

To which Bolt replied: "Yeah! Rashford is quick out the blocks, that is what he does.

"He has that burst of speed but after that, I told him, you could probably get me in 20 [yards].

"But after that, it is over!"

Speaking this summer after Manchester City claimed an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title, Bolt stunned fans by admitting he would always prefer Pep Guardiola's side to win the league than Arsenal.

"Everybody always asks me who I'd rather win the Premier League out of Arsenal and Man City – I'm like, 'Man City, easy.' People are like, 'But they're your rival'," Bolt told talkSPORT.

"I know a lot of Arsenal fans and when they're top of the table they talk so much and I'm like, 'You haven't won yet!' Imagine if they actually won? Oh my God, It would be over. I'd rather Man City win than Arsenal because I couldn't deal with it.

"Liverpool? No, because they'd be tied on titles with us and we can't have that and because Arsenal talk so much, I'd rather deal with Man City.

"They're all young fans and I don't know many young people so I'm fine with that!"
