What Scholes Has Said About United And Liverpool Right Now Will Hurt Fans

The Manchester United legend is pulling no punches.

Paul Scholes is a Manchester United legend, but he isn't afraid to criticise theclub when he feels they need a kick up the backside.

And they've warranted a lot of kicks up the arse recently: they missed out on the Premier League title in second place by 19 points; they were haplessly knocked out of the Champions League to Seville in the first knockout stage; and they lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the F.A Cup final despite the Blues undergoing a miniature crisis.

It wasn't supposed to be this way for Jose Mourinho in his second season in charge. It was supposed to get better, but last season's three pieces of silverware compared to this season's zero cannot be considered as progress.

Scholes, a player who was the heartbeat of Man United's halcyon days under Sir Alex Ferguson, is often critical of Man United during the post-Ferguson days.

And this time is no different. The former footballer turned TV pundit said: "It shows how far United have fallen when our whole season rests on Liverpool losing."

Wow. Heart. Dagger.

Comparisons between Man United, Manchester City and Liverpool have been made, owing to the reason that they're all close rivals. Liverpool have achieved great European success, getting to the Champions League final, while Man City have achieved great things in the Premier League, breaking records and having pundits label them as possibly the greatest Premier League of all time.

Man United, however, have fell short in both their domestic and European endeavours. Mourinho is set to receive a mouth-watering war chest this summer to bolster the Red Devils' chances of success next season.

A third season like for Man United this is unthinkable.
