The Welshman's relationship with Zidane has always been testing.

Gareth Bale has chosen to ignore Zinedine Zidane's departure by not paying tribute to the former Real Madrid boss on social media.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger has had a fraught time in Spain whilst under the leadership of Zidane. The French manager has not given Bale regular football and so the Welshman is reportedly keen on a move away from Madrid.

Zidane announced his departure from Real on Thursday. He had managed the La Liga giants for three seasons, winning a Champions League trophy in each of those years - an astounding record by any measure.

But where some Real players have paid their respects, Bale has left it. In fact, he's the only first-team player not to mention his former boss on his social media.

Zidane's relationship with Bale has been testing at best.

Bale didn't even start the Champions League final against Liverpool, something which annoyed him greatly, but came on and made a tremendous impact, scoring two goals, one from long-range and other, perhaps one of the greatest goals of all time.

In his post-match press conference at Kiev, Ukraine, Bale told reporters that in order to play regular football, he will have to depart the Bernabeu this summer. He'll be no short of offers, with Manchester United reportedly one of the teams keen on purchasing the attacker.

Bale is a clearly talented individual. He was one of the key players in Wales' brilliant Euro 2016 semi-final finish, while at Spurs he transformed from a scrawny left-back joining from Southampton, to one of the best players in the Premier League, scoring worldies near enough every week, and turning players such as Maicon - arguably the best right-back in Europe at the time - inside out.

But his time at Real hasn't gone swimmingly.

With Zidane leaving the club, it's thought that it could open a better future for Bale at Madrid. The 28-year-old will be hoping to be given more of a chance under the future boss of Real.
