Timo Werner Sums Up Chelsea 1-3 Manchester City By Injuring Himself Taking A Corner

This might be a career low point for him...

Chelsea continued their terrible run of form on Sunday, losing 3-1 to Manchester City.

Manager Frank Lampard is now under even more pressure as a result, with the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Massimiliano Allegri both being linked to the position.

One of the complaints levelled at the Stamford Bridge legend is that he has misspent the cash he splashed in the summer, with many of the new signings failing to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

One of those misfiring arrivals is Timo Werner, who has struggled to repeat the form he showed at Red Bull Leipzig to win himself a move to Chelsea in the first place.

After scoring just four goals in 17 Premier League appearances, Werner hit a new low in the loss to Manchester City. He somehow managed to almost injure himself taking a corner, and not only that, a short corner.

The moment wasn't important in terms of the three points as the game was already gone, but it does sum up how the afternoon went for the west Londoners.

First half goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, and Kevin De Bruyne were enough to see Pep Guardiola's side cruise past ther opponents, with Callum Hudson-Odoi grabbing a consolation in the dying minutes.

The defeat leaves Chelsea in eighth in the Premier League, and three points behind fourth places Tottenham - plus the north Londoners have a game in hand on their rivals.
