Nicolas Anelka Once Demolished England While Wearing Goalie Gloves And It's Still The Biggest Flex

One of football's greatest mysteries.

Nicolas Anelka completely dominated England 22 years ago today - and he did so while sporting a pair of goalkeeper gloves.

Anelka started up front for France against the Three Lions and scored both goals in a dominant 2-0 victory.

France boasted legendary superstars such as Zinedine Zidane among their ranks, but the big talking point was Anelka's attire.

Rocking a pair of black and white Adidas gloves, he managed to put Howard Wilkinson's side to the sword with a pair of lovely finishes.

Zidane had been a vital play in France's World Cup triumph the previous year and he produced a lovely assist for the opening goal after hooking it round the corner.

Anelka then ran on to coolly slot past Nigel Martyn for France's first-ever goal at Wembley.

His second came once again thanks to Zidane's genius, with the current Real Madrid manager sending Christophe Dugarry down the touchline.

Dugarry then put the ball back into the box for Anelka to comfortably put home.

Even football's governing body have become intrigued by the former Premier League winner's fashion choice.

FIFA speculated on their website back in 2012: "Had L'Enfant Terrible wanted to set a trend in a city preparing for that month's London Fashion Week by bizarrely wearing goalkeeping gloves, he failed.

"Anelka did, however, certainly look the part in footballing terms."
