Villarreal have announced via social media that they'll be paying homage to Andres Iniesta and Barcelona.

Barca travel to Estadio de la Cerámica later Wednesday night and the home side have said they'll be presenting Barca and their 33-year-old talisman an award as a token of respect.

Iniesta announced that he will be leaving the Nou Camp after this season, after a perfect, record-breaking La Liga title victory.

Barca won the 26th La Liga title at a canter this season and are yet to be beaten in the league. They only have Villarreal, Levante and Real Sociedad left to play on the fixtures list in La Liga, so the chances of them pulling off an Invincible's season is extremely high.

Villarreal have again had a remarkable year, sitting in an impressive sixth place.

A La Liga regular now, the distinctly yellow-wearing side are reminder that a football club doesn't need to be situated in massive city to compete. Their stadium capacity is just half of the entire town population.

And of course, they seem to be a nice bunch, saying that they will honour Iniesta later this evening by giving him his own token yellow submarine, a gift after Villarreal FC's nickname.

The tweet is translated as: "Today at the Camp Nou, Villarreal will honour Barcelona for the achievement of the title of La Liga. In addition, he will deliver Andre Iniesta a ceramic yellow Submarine as a tribute to his career and the values he transmits as an athlete."

It's a wonderful gesture for a man who has not just had a tremendous impact on Barcelona, but the entirety of Spanish football, at both domestic and national level.

Iniesta reportedly struck a deal with Japanese side Vessel Kobe which would see a deal involve his wine business as well but just today their side have denied that claim.

We're not sure where he'll be playing football next season, but it's certain that he'll have plenty of offers through the door.
