One TV commentator's scathing takedown of VAR is being called a perfect explanation of its damaging effect on football.
There was a delay during Tottenham vs Crystal Palace on Sunday - after Son Heung-min had fed Harry Kane to finish off a sublime Spurs move - with VAR checking to see if Kane might have a fraction of his arm offside.
"VAR are playing their games here," said 'Match of the Day' commentator Steve Wilson, as both sides waited on the check.

"They're looking to see whether a beautifully crafted moment of footballing joy should be snuffed out by a piece of miserable geometry."
As it happened, the goal stood (Kane was slightly behind Son when the pass was made) and the match ended in a 4-1 Tottenham victory.
But football fans pinpointed Wilson's commentary as a wonderful explanation of the destructive impact VAR is having on football, with players and fans waiting while goals are chalked off by seemingly imperceptible fractions.
"This commentator is absolutely spot-on... couldn't have put it any better," agreed one football fan on Twitter.

Another described Wilson's words as: "Commentary of the season award."
"A couple of blokes sitting in a van playing with Microsoft Paint on a 45 degree camera angle video does not constitute technological advancement in my book," joked another football supporter.
The late VAR decision didn't actually change the result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the weekend.

Kane's goal stood, meaning that the doubles from the England striker and the revitalised Gareth Bale easily did for Roy Hodgson's Palace side.
But clearly the delay while angles are analysed to see if a goal should stand is ruining the moment for many football fans - and at least one commentator.
