Raheem Sterling has caught some flak from the tabloid press for having a gun tattooed on his leg.

The Manchester City winger was shown to have a machine gun tattooed on his leg and certain publications suggested that by having the print, he was glamourising gun violence.

But Sterling came out to say that the tattoo had a deeper meaning, that it was to commemorate his father, who was gunned down and killed in Jamaica when Sterling was young, and to remind the England international how damaging gun violence can be.

To counter the media's narrative of Sterling, one twitter user, Howard Hockin, has tweeted a thread of all the legendary things that the attacker has done.

The list includes Sterling making "substantial" donation to the Grenfell Tower fund, his work which dissuades youths turning to crime, his funding of two primary schools in Jamaica, buying his mother a luxurious home, his sister with her own home, going out his way to meet members of staff at New York City FC after a lengthy flight to the US, visiting a disability programme, and promoting a programme which encourages children to read more.

Safe to presume that Sterling is a pretty sound guy, who does tons for charity. Not some thug that a minority of the media portray him to be.

We wish Sterling all the best in Russia for the World Cup. We're sure he'll smash it.
