The Brentford winger looked set to earn his big move to the Premier League on transfer deadline day in a £25 million deal.
But The Mirror have learned the Algerian had failed his medical on Friday morning and the deal is hanging on by a thread.
While the news of Benrahma failing his medical looks to be true, fans of the London outfit were quick to point out a number of injury-prone players who have passed medicals in recent years.
Among those include former England internationals Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll, with social media also taking note.
How do you fail a medical at the same club Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll passed one https://t.co/Y4n1cW5Kdl

Every West Ham fan after finding out Benrahma has failed his medical even though Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere both passed: pic.twitter.com/jLrDbch5q0

Samir Nasri, Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll all "passed medicals" yet we are supposed to believe Benrahma who played 44 games last season and literally played 3 days ago, has failed his? Something dodgy there, not having it

You expect people to believe this when West Ham have signed
Jack Wilshire
Andy Carroll
Andriy Yamenlenko
All with terrible injury records! It's a complete spin by the owners

Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll didn't fail a medical, yet Benrahama has apparently. Hilarious. https://t.co/3yLJN7cyue

No way Jack Wilshere & Andy Carroll both passed medicals and played for West Ham for 2 & 7 years respectively, but Benrahma who played this week fails his... ♂️♂️

While the 25-year-old failing his medical could see the deal collapse, Brentford are still maintaining a transfer can be complete.
A source stated: "Nothing has been done yet. Conversations are ongoing."
Benrahma has been in action for Algeria this week, coming on as a substitute against Mexico in a friendly.
He helped Brentford to third in the Championship table last season, with the club eventually losing the play-off final to Fulham.
Do you think Said Benrahma will be a West Ham United player by 5pm?
