Mason Mount is allegedly unhappy with Chelsea's signing of Kai Havertz - but his father Tony has immediately squashed the rumours.

The Blues confirmed the signing of Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen on Friday in a £71 million deal.

Havertz is one of the world's top young talents and operates in a similar role to academy graduate Mount.

German journalist Christian Falk tweeted on Sunday that Mount was not thrilled having to compete with an expensive inquisition.

However, Tony Mount was quick to respond with a series of laughing emojis, as well as the word 'bull' with another emoji.

In attack, Chelsea have also added Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to their ranks meaning competition for places is strong at Stamford Bridge.

Mount established himself as an important part of Frank Lampard's side last season and played 53 games in all competitions.

When asked about his performances this season and what he had learnt, Mount told SPORTbible:

"How strong you need to be as a Premier League footballer because the intensity is totally different to any other league. You've got to produce in every single game because you're playing against world-class players that are always going to make it hard for you.

"I've definitely learned so much from this season, more mentally than physical, because you've always got to be focused and on it and it's tough at times.

The 21-year-old worked with Lampard at Derby County during a loan spell last season and he explained how valuable the coaching has been.

"Obviously I worked with him at Derby County and he spoke to me about the timing of my runs in the box and what positions I can get into to score goals.

"Working with him last season has been another level, I've had to step it up. As a midfielder it's been brilliant to learn off him, I just want to keep progressing."

Chelsea return to action on September 14 when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in their season opener.
