Odion Ighalo has been offered a two year contract extension worth £400,000 a week by parent club Shanghai Shenhua to stop him signing for Manchester United permanently.

Ighalo has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford since arriving on loan in January and has scored four goals in three starts.

Now Chinese side Shenhua reportedly want to reward the striker with an extended contract featuring a bumper pay rise.

The 30-year-old's loan was set to expire on May 30th but it will reportedly be extended by an additional month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ighalo's current contract with his parent side is set to expire in 2022 and he is reportedly 'flattered' by the new contract offer.

However, the Nigerian forward is a boyhood United fan and is reportedly 'focused' on helping the Red Devils until the end of the season.

He revealed in an interview that it was his dream to play for United and not many would have ever seen it happening.

"When you say those kinds of things (about the prospect of playing for United when he was a child), people say 'are you crazy?' because back then you don't even know what the future holds," the striker told beIN Sports per Daily Mail.

"First you just want to go outside the country to start playing - even for a small team, not even to talk of going to United.

"But my support for the team was great. I tried to see every game of United every weekend if possible. I still remember those memories.

"I never imagined it was going to turn out this way. Even when I played in the Premier League for Watford, I never thought this was going to happen."

When asked where he was most looking forward to playing after being promoted with former side Watford, he said, "Old Trafford. It'll be a dream come true to play against Manchester United, the team I supported in my youth."
