Manchester United Make Shock Transfer Enquiry For Chelsea Star
By Mike Parrott
Manchester United have made a shock transfer enquiry into the availability of Chelsea star N'Golo Kante. The French midfielder has seen limited time under manager Frank Lampard.
Even though Manchester United have not been interested in a defensive midfielder all summer, they reportedly now are.
Chelsea's N'Golo Kante is supposedly ready to leave Chelsea with Antonio Conte's Inter Milan the favourites by-far to land the Frenchman.
According to the Mirror, Kante could be heading to Old Trafford after the Red Devils contacted his representatives.
Inter sport director Piero Ausilio to DAZN: "Kanté is not on the market, he's a starter @ Chelsea. We're not in talks for him also because we've already 8 midfielders in our team". :large_blue_circle: #Inter #CFC #transfers

Inter's director Piero Ausilio spoke about Kante before Inter's game against Fiorentina on Saturday:
"Kante is an important part of Chelsea, I don't think he will be up for sale.
"We have eight important central midfielders, we will begin and move forward with them," the director explained to DAZN.
Kante has started all of Chelsea's three Premier League games and Lampard would prefer to sell Jorginho ahead of the World Cup winner.

However, only Arsenal have been remotely interested in the Italian midfielder, having him third choice behind Thomas Partery and Houssem Aouar in transfer targets.
Manchester United have used the likes of Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Fred next to Paul Pogba in the midfield pairing behind Bruno Fernandes this season.

Even though the likes of McTominay and Matic have been preferred, Fred was arguably a better player than Kante in the 2019/20 Premier League season.
According to FootballReference and StatsBomb, Fred beat out Kante in successful pressures, shot-creating actions, passes into the final third, progressive distance, successful dribbles, while only narrowly having less interceptions and tackles.
Manchester United should be focusing on their transfer dealings for Alex Telles and Jadon Sancho who will be improvements over their current players at the respective positions, rather than Kante who offers arguably less than Fred does to Manchester United.
