Manchester United fans have hijacked Raphael Varane's latest Instagram post with messages urging him to sign for the club.

United want to recruit a new central defender this summer and fans clearly believe Real Madrid and France star Varane fits the bill.

The 28-year-old posted an innocuous message on Instagram following his arrival with the French team in Bucharest ahead of their round of 16 clash with Switzerland at Euro 2020 on Monday.

That was immediately pounced upon by Red Devils supporters who would love to see him strutting his stuff at Old Trafford.

United are believed to have already had a £50m bid for the 28-year-old rejected, with Real looking for closer to £80m - despite the centre-back having just 12 months left on his contract.

Varane has played every minute for France at Euro 2020 so far and the World Cup winner is thought to be ready for a new challenge after 10 years at the Bernabeu.

One of the stumbling would be his wages, with Varane pushing to earn as much as £400,000 a week.

Paris Saint-Germain are also an option for Varane, but his preference is to move to the Premier League.

However, former Chelsea and France star Frank Leboeuf has questioned why Varane would want to head to United.

He told ESPN FC: "We know the history of Man United, but we are talking about the past.

"They finished in second place in the league, but I'm not sure it's a goal for everyone to go to Manchester United now unless they have three or four new signings coming in as well so they can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

"I don't know what Raphael Varane's goal is but I'd have some questions before going to Manchester United."

Meanwhile, United, who are closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, are reportedly set to meet Eduardo Camavinga's entourage next week ahead of a big-money move for the Rennes starlet.

The 18-year-old also only has a year left on his deal with the French side.
