Jurgen Klopp isn't exactly a fan of January signings, but with Liverpool desperate to keep pace with the likes of Manchester City and PSG, now could be the perfect time for the German to reinvest.
A report from Spanish outlet ABC indicates that Liverpool will target Real Madrid want-away Marco Asensio, who is believed to be unhappy at his lack of playing time.
Under current Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti, the Spanish star has struggled to get sustained game time, having started only two La Liga games so far this season.

The site also claims that the 25-year-old fell out with Ancelotti in the wake of Madrid's shock 2-1 home defeat to FC Sheriff in the Champions League.
Asensio was an unused sub as the home side fell to the Moldovan minnows, which came as a shock given his hat-trick against Mallorca the weekend prior.
With the relationship between player and manager now poisoned, Liverpool could be in an excellent position to capitalise on the situation.

The Premier League club hasn't made a January signing of note since Virgil Van Dijk joined back in 2018, which itself was only completed due to Klopp missing out in the Dutchman six months before.
Signing Asensio would therefore represent a change of approach from the 54-year-old, but there does appear to be a very good reason why the club are so keen to try and land the player at the next available opportunity.
The forward's Real contract expires in the summer of 2023, which means the Reds would be able to sign him for a heavily reduced fee this winter.

Waiting until the summer months to try and seal a deal could possibly allow rival clubs to skip the queue, or it could see the player pen a new contract at the Bernabeu - should a new manager come in.
If Liverpool or any other club wish to try and acquire Asensio, time is most certainly of the essence.
