Lionel Messi has missed his medical check at Barcelona. The mandatory medical check would have been ahead of the start of the 2020/21 La Liga season, however Messi purposely missed it to push through his move away from the club.

The Argentine maestro is seemingly pulling out all the stops to get his wish and depart from Barcelona.

Lionel Messi refused to show up for his mandatory medical check at Barcelona today, ahead of the start of the 2020/21 La Liga season. Messi believes that this should allow him to leave the Catalan club sooner rather than later.

The current Ballon D'Or holder handed in a transfer request to Barcelona officials on August 25th and has been trying to leave ever since. Teams such as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the early favourites to attain the signature of the Argentinian with City seeming to be ahead.

City manager Pep Guardiola was spotted in Barcelona on August 28th and has supposedly held talks with Messi to convince him to join the Manchester club.

According to L'Equipe, PSG sporting director Leonardo has claimed that Messi's father, Jorge, has told him that Messi has decided to join City as soon as possible.

The Argentine is reportedly preparing for a court case to leave Barcelona on a free. His €700 million release clause that Barcelona are holding on for isn't active this summer due to the last year of his deal being classed as a optional year that nullifies the release clause.

What do you think of Lionel Messi refusing to show up for his medical check?
