Loris Karius could be set to make a stunning return to Liverpool as Besiktas look to end his loan deal in the coming months.

The German keeper is just over halfway through a two year loan deal at the Turkish outfit after being deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp.

But his time in Turkey has been less than plain sailing and it looks like it could meet a premature end.

Per Sport Witness, recently appointed Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi is looking to offload a variety of players in January, including sending Karius back to Merseyside.

Cebi is said to be unconvinced by the 26-year-old between the sticks and it's a sentiment echoed by the Besiktas supporters.

The 15 time Turkish League champions are currently struggling in 8th position after nine games played.

Fulham shot stopper Fabri is said to be a transfer target in January as his loan to Mallorca isn't working out, but signing him would require letting Karius return to the Premier League leaders.

Karius has explained that he would like to return to the Premier League at the end of his loan deal.

Speaking to The Guardian after Besiktas' 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Europa League earlier this month, he said;

"Right now my focus is on playing games here every week and then we'll see.

"I've enjoyed my time here. Of course if you play in England you are a bit more in the spotlight, but it's a good club here, of course with some problems now and then.

"It was not always easy the last year and a bit since I'm here but overall the first season was quite good.

The Premier League is the best league so it's interesting of course but also I am still under contract at Liverpool, so maybe I'll play for Liverpool again, you never know.

"It's difficult to say now. If it's not Liverpool it will be another decent team I am sure, so I am not worried."

It's hard to see a place for him at Liverpool after the debut season Alisson Becker had.

A spot on the bench would likely be too far for Karius given the performances Adrian has made when required earlier this season.

Do you think Karius will ever play for Liverpool again?
