Donny van de Beek has been linked with a sensational transfer to Juventus next summer - just months after joining Manchester United.

The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in a deal worth around £40 million in the summer.

But he's struggled for regular game time in the Premier League and played just 86 minutes, due to the form of Bruno Fernandes.

CalcioMercato claim Andrea Pirlo is interested in the 23-year-old and while a January deal is unlikely, Juventus could make a move in the summer.

It's thought a player could be included in an eventual permanent deal, as well as a transfer fee of £30 million.

Former Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt is currently at the Allianz Stadium and the duo reached a Champions League semi-final together while at Ajax.

Van de Beek has starred in his limited game time this season and regularly features in the Champions League.

But he cuts a frustrated figure on the sidelines of most domestic games.

The 23-year-old did start in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir and he praised the attacking talent in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

"They are amazing," he told manutd.com. "You know you can always have options to give the ball to play to these amazing players. You know something happens if you play the ball to them.

"I played also before, a lot, in that position and, when I came in my first year in Ajax, I was always playing in the no.6 position.

"After that, we got a new coach and he put me in the no.10 position because he said you make a lot of goals so it's better you play there. I can play in both positions - it doesn't matter so much for me."

United are next in action against Southampton on Sunday afternoon and van de Beek could be in line for a start due to Paul Pogba's current injury issues.

The World Cup winner has missed United's last two games with an ankle problem that reportedly caused him to be absent for large parts of last term.

Staff were optimistic he would be fit for Sunday, but Pogba trained away from the rest of the squad on Friday morning at United's AON training complex.

He also didn't appear to be moving particularly well and doesn't look likely to be involved in the trip to St Mary's.
