Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is reportedly set for an £80 million transfer to Chelsea - with personal terms "all but done."

The 21-year-old is one of football's hottest commodities and finished the Bundesliga season with 12 goals and six assists.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has revealed Frank Lampard's side are in pole position to land Havertz, as they're the "only club ready to pay what it will take" to sign him.

It's also stated that the German international is keen to keen to settle his future "swiftly" after indicating he wishes to depart from the BayArena this summer.

Havertz is said to have spoken to Lampard and a move to Stamford Bridge is not reliant on The Blues qualifying for next season's Champions League.

The only club Havertz would choose over the Premier League outfit at this stage is Real Madrid, but 'Los Blancos' have ruled themselves out of the running.

It would be a statement of intent from Chelsea who have already added Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to their ranks for next season.

Ziyech has linked up with the squad following a £37 million transfer from Ajax and is taking part in training at Cobham.

The news will cap off a fine few days for Chelsea who reached the FA Cup Final last night following a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.

Lampard spoke to BBC Sport following the game and was delighted with his side's performance.

"I can't ask for anything more than that - maybe a few more goals which is surprising when you play against a team of their quality," he stated per Manchester Evening News.

"We played with a system that we haven't played with in a while and I was surprised that they matched us up before (in the Carabao Cup and league meetings in October and February).

"But in the early parts of the game I thought we were on top but when they changed the system I think we played even better. We did everything that I asked of them.

"I'm very proud of the performance."

Do you think Kai Havertz will be a good signing for Chelsea?
