Borussia Dortmund have reportedly reached a 'verbal agreement' with Real Madrid over the transfer of Erling Haaland.

The 21-year-old is one of Europe's highest-rated youngsters and is being chased by a number of clubs.

Manchester United and Manchester City have registered interest in the past, while Paris Saint-Germain made a late move this summer.

But Diario Madridista per TEAMtalk have claimed a move to Madrid is most likely due to their show of respect to Dortmund.

It was confirmed early in the transfer window that Dortmund had no intention of selling Haaland in 2021.

That saw 'Los Blancos' back off and instead chase a move for Kylian Mbappe.

Madrid are now 'first in line' should they choose to sign Haaland and the Norway international has reportedly given his word he'll sign.

Carlo Ancelotti could theoretically start next season with Haaland in attack alongside Mbappe, who can leave PSG as a free agent next summer.

Haaland has just enjoyed a successful international break, scoring five times in three games as Norway look to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Along the way he managed to dislocate Virgil van Dijk's finger in a battle against the Netherlands.

His standout moment however came in Tuesday's victory over Gibraltar when he managed to score his second international hat-trick.

Former Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently discussed Haaland's future and he believes it lies outside the Bundesliga.

"I'm afraid Haaland won't stay in the Bundesliga," said Rummenigge in an interview with Sport Bild per Bulinews.

He continued: "He has become an absolute figurehead of the league alongside many Bayern Munich players.

"But the numbers that are circulating show that it's difficult to keep him in Germany.

"I assume that Haaland will go abroad in the future."
