Top 15 Most Valuable Teams Now Liverpool Have Thiago And Diogo Jota

Liverpool overtake Manchester City as the most valuable squad in the Premier League.

Liverpool have waited until late into the transfer window to do their big business and the additions of Thiago and Diogo Jota have spectacularly boosted their squad value.

The signing of the 29-year-old Thiago from Bayern Munich for an initial £20 million in particular looks a terrific deal, while Portugal international Jota cost a reported £41 million from Wolves.

The end result is that Liverpool now boast the most valuable squad in Europe - leaping two places from their previous third spot thanks to their new arrivals. Transfermarkt's list, with data crunched by GiveMeSport, shows LFC top with a total squad value only just below £1 billion (£986.67 million).

Pushed into second place are Manchester City (squad value: £933.14 million). Pep Guardiola's side do own the most expensive player in the Premier League, however, in Raheem Sterling. His £115.2 million valuation puts him ahead of Liverpool's Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, plus his own teammate Kevin De Bruyne (all three being valued at £108 million).

Despite their struggles on and off the pitch, Barcelona surprisingly make third spot. Keeping hold of Lionel Messi (just about) helps as he's valued above £100 million despite being 33 years young, while Antoine Griezmann is worth an estimated £86.4 million.

Big-spending Chelsea are fourth with a total value of £825.93 million, Kai Havertz (£72.9 million) being their most expensive star, ahead of N'Golo Kante (£72.9 million). Interestingly, lower down the list Tottenham (10th) sit three places above Arsenal - mainly thanks to Harry Kane's estimated value of £108 million.

Spanish champions Real Madrid sit fifth in the list after a quiet summer so far, with Eden Hazard still rated their best asset at £72 million despite a disappointing first season at the Bernabeu last term.

It probably says a lot about how inflated Premier League transfer fees are that you have to get down to sixth before you reach Europe's best team right now: Champions League winners Bayern Munich.

Robert Lewandowski may be their biggest star, but his age (32) inevitably lowers his value somewhat so Serge Gnabry is their top-value player at £81 million. We'd personally pay that ourselves for Joshua Kimmich or Alphonso Davies - but we don't make the rules.

Manchester United are in seventh spot, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford being their highest-price assets, both at £72 million.

Paris Saint-Germain only come in eighth despite boasting the most valuable player in the world according to Transfermarkt: Kylian Mbappe at £162 million.

Inter Milan in 11th are actually the highest-placed Serie A side with a total value of £660.69 million, putting them one spot above Italian champions Juventus - partly because Cristiano Ronaldo's value is now 'only' £54 million. Still not bad for a 35-year-old.
