The Premier League team of the season so far has been revealed - with no players from current champions Liverpool featuring.

Most teams in the league are at the halfway point of their campaigns and WhoScored fans have voted for the standout performers.

Despite running way with the title in 19/20, Liverpool have had a poor 20/21 and find themselves fourth in the table.

Currently top are Manchester United and Portuguese superstar Bruno Fernandes is included in midfield.

United lead the pack right now but Fernandes hasn't been at his sparkling best so far in 2021.

The Red Devils face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday evening and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told to rest the 26-year-old.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson explained in his Daily Star column: "United should rest Bruno Fernandes against Liverpool this weekend. He looks tired to me.

"He's played every single game in the league and all those minutes start to add up after a while.

"For me, he doesn't play in this game. United haven't had a chance to win the league like this for a few years.

"They have to take this chance and prioritise the title race. The FA Cup just isn't as important.

"It's more important to keep him as fresh as possible for the league. He lifts them. They look to him to make things happen."

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways after a shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Thursday evening.
