Toni Kroos has revealed what he and Cristiano Ronaldo spoke about as they covered their mouths and had an on-pitch chat after Germany's 4-2 victory over Portugal on Saturday.

The former Real Madrid teammates hid their mouths from prying cameras but had a lengthy conversation after the final whistle. At one point Portugal defender Pepe came over to greet Kroos, making it a full-on Real reunion.

Now the Germany midfielder has opened up on what the pair talked about after the Group F thriller, with Kroos explaining they spoke about the tournament and about whether Ronaldo liked playing in Italy.

"I played with Ronaldo for four seasons - and I am not exaggerating when I say that I had the greatest successes with him and thanks to him," said Kroos on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast, via Sun Sport, when asked about what the pair discussed.

"We were neighbours in the dressing room throughout that period and I was glad to see him. We haven't seen each other for a long time; [Real] haven't played against Juventus.

"We talked briefly about the match and the upcoming matches. I wish them the best of luck, I hope they qualify for the next round, just like us.

"Also, I asked how Italy suited him because he has been there for three years."

Kroos and Ronaldo were crucial parts of the Real Madrid team that won three Champions League titles in a row from 2016 to 2018, so it's great to hear the bond between them is still strong.

In fact, the catch-up didn't end there as they swapped match shirts in the changing rooms in Munich.

"After a game you don't have all the time in the world," Kroos added.

"In the dressing room we exchanged shirts. I liked seeing him again."

Ronaldo gave Portugal the lead against Germany, sprinting to score his 12th ever European Championship goal. However the home side roared back with Own Goal (who's having a hell of a Euro 2020) contributing twice as Germany went on to win 4-2.

Both sides now have three points from two Group F games with Portugal to face France and Germany taking on Hungary in their final group matches.

Although, with the four best third-placed teams qualifying for the knockout stages, Kroos could well get his wish that both Germany and Portugal make it to the last 16.
