Unreal determination in the dying moments.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente managed to break the La Liga speed record on Sunday evening - by hitting an incredible speed in the 91st minute.

Diego Simeone's side were 2-1 down to Athletic Bilbao in the dying moments and they couldn't afford to drop points in the title race.

Atletico had poured bodies forward to attack and it left Bilbao free to hit on the counter. That is, until Llorente got involved.

The Spaniard was seen busting a gut from his own half to get back and make a last-ditch challenge and deny Jon Morcillo, with Mundo Deportivo clocking his speed at 35.4 km/hr.

He's not even in frame when the counter attack begins and it means he sits atop this campaign's speed charts. How can you be that fast in injury time?

While the game did end 2-1 and give Barcelona a chance to jump top of La Liga on Thursday, fans are loving Llorente's commitment.

Playing in a new role on the right, he has scored 11 times and provided 10 assists in 32 appearances.

Llorente's feat comes weeks after Erling Haaland demolished the Bundesliga's barriers for Borussia Dortmund vs Stuttgart.

The Norwegian sensation clocked in at 36.04 km/h in an attempt to score on the counter.
