Jesse Lingard's post-match interview after scoring two goals on his West Ham United debut shows how buzzing he is to be playing once again.

The 28-year-old joined West Ham on loan from Manchester United last week and came straight into the side against Aston Villa.

It was a perfect start for Lingard, who netted two goals in a comfortable 3-1 win for the Hammers.

He spoke to BT Sport following the game and it was clear to see his confidence was back after a lovely brace.

"Three points is the most important thing, the team worked hard as a collective and we think about the next one against Fulham," he begun.

"The team have been great with me, I have settled in fairly quickly and some familiar faces help.

"In training we have that connection and built it up fairly quickly. On matchday it is fairly easy to play with Michail [Antonio] and Declan [Rice]. As a team and as a collective we worked to get the points.

"I started tonight, scored two goals and got three points. I was smiling before the game and during, I just love football and enjoy playing football.

"It has been a long time, I have come here to get game time and scored two goals but like I said, three points is the most important!"

Lingard's time at boyhood club United had been blighted by personal issues off the pitch and he fell down the pecking order.

But a move away could reignite his top-flight career.

Manager David Moyes was delighted with Lingard's performance and he believes it won't be long until he's back in the England fold if he keeps up those performances.

"Jesse is still getting used to us and us to him," said Moyes per Evening Standard. "We are thrilled because he made a difference.

"I felt we were short in areas where we make chances. It is proved tonight that we needed him.

"If he keeps on like that it won't be long until he is back in the England squad. He made the team better tonight."
