It isn't the first time that South American fans have made the news for paying tribute to friends in this way.
Take these Cúcuta Deportivo 'Ultras', who made the decision to take their friend to a game days after his death.
Cúcuta Deportivo 'Ultras' carried the coffin of late 17-year-old fan Christopher Jácome to the game against Envigado at the General Santander stadium last year.
The lad was killed whilst playing football a day before but his friends wanted him to 'watch' the match with them and took him from his home - getting permission from his family to do so.
Bizarrely, the game was 1-0 before his coffin entered the stadium and after his arrival, Cúcuta equalised and the game ended 1-1.
