This won't go down too well with Liverpool supporters.

Alex Miller has said that Steven Gerrard would leave Rangers for Manchester United if he had the chance.

Gerrard is a Liverpool legend and undertook the job at Rangers as his first managerial role. It's a big leap from serving in the Reds' youth academy, but many feel that the automatic respect Gerrard has should pull the players in the right direction.

But, speaking to BBC Scotland, Miller has suggest that Gerrard could be tempted to leave, if an offer from Man United were to come along. He said:

"Rangers will mount a challenge to Celtic. And if you make a go of the Rangers job, why would you leave?
It would need to be Liverpool, Manchester United, or Arsenal."

Social media had their say on the matter and it's fair to comment that they weren't too impressed with Miller's thoughts to the BBC.

Gerrard will be given his first proper challenge the way of Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership today. His former England counterpart and now Derby County manager Frank Lampard got off to a winning start, but can Gerrard do the same?
