Lionel Messi has now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo's record for the most hat-tricks in La Liga history.
Messi's three goals against Mallorca last night pushes his hat-trick tally to 35 while Ronaldo left Real Madrid on 34.
The pair have gone back and forth over the last few years when it comes to breaking records.

But Messi seems to be pulling ahead in the duo's later years.
It was a special evening for Messi yesterday as it was his first game since winning his sixth Ballon d'Or on Monday night.
His first goal of the evening was a beautiful curling effort from outside the box after Antoine Griezmann had opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes.

Mallorca managed to pull one back but Messi scored another from outside the area just to show how good he is.
Luis Suarez got in on the act before half-time and score an exquisite chipped backheel.
Messi completed his hat-trick in the second half and took his La Liga goal tally for the season up to 12 in 10 games.
He's the league's top scorer despite missing large chunks of the first few months to injury.

On the other hand, Ronaldo hasn't enjoyed his best start to the season for Juventus.
The Portuguese forward has only scored seven goals this campaign and his side suffered their first Serie A defeat of the season to Lazio last night.
The 34-year-old has also been involved in a high profile dispute with Maurizio Sarri earlier in the season.

'The Old Lady' are two points behind Inter Milan in the table and aren't in the best of form.
Barcelona meanwhile are at the top of La Liga and are starting to find their feet.
No doubt it's in part to Messi's scintillating form.
