Son Heung-min scored for South Korea in a World Cup qualifier and paid heartfelt tribute to his former Tottenham teammate Christian Eriksen with his celebration.

Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's Euro 2020 game against Finland and had to receive urgent medical attention on the pitch, before being taken to hospital. The Danish FA have since released a statement to say Eriksen is stable and has contacted his teammates.

Son spent five years at Spurs with Eriksen and, after scoring against Lebanon, the forward dedicated his goal to his former teammate by holding up 23 (Eriken's Tottenham shirt number) and running towards a TV camera to say: "Christian Eriksen, I love you."

The 28-year-old Son's warm tribute came after Romelu Lukaku, Eriksen's current teammate at Inter Milan, also dedicated his celebration to the Dane after scoring the opening goal for Belgium against Russia.

Running to the TV camera, Lukaku grabbed it and said: "Chris! Chris! I love you," as a message to his friend.

The football world watched in horror on Saturday when Eriksen suddenly collapsed just before half-time during Denmark's Euro 2020 opener.

CPR was performed on the pitch and the game was suspended before eventually continuing, after Eriksen had reportedly been in touch with his teammates to assure them he was conscious and recovering.

It was clearly incredibly challenging for both sets of players and it cannot have been easy for Eriksen's friends within football, such as Son and Lukaku, to play later on the same day.

Son's second-half penalty gave South Korea a 2-1 win over Lebanon, while Lukaku scored twice in a 3-0 win over Russia. But both players clearly had Eriksen on their mind.

England captain Harry Kane, like Son a teammate of Eriksen while the midfielder was at Spurs, also shared a message of support on Saturday evening.

"Chris. I'm sending all my love to you and your family," Kane tweeted. "Stay strong mate."
