Sir Alex Ferguson Once Fined Whole Aberdeen Side And Told Them Through Poetry

Sir Alex Ferguson found a number of ways to tell off his players, but this is the best we've heard so far.

Sir Alex Ferguson is often portrayed as a man who ruled with an iron fist. But it appears that the man did have soft side.

Well, sort of, anyway. Ferguson caught one of the players of his Aberdeen side pulling a prank in a hotel. They were dropping footballs from their hotel window on the tenth floor onto the ground, but the Scotsman caught on and, instead of fining just the guilty party, fined the whole squad £3.

And instead of going through the hassle of having to explain to his players why their wages where docked, he simply, and quite brilliantly, wrote them all a poem.

"By now you will realise that I am very much aware of anyone as stupid as to repeat this affair," it reads. It seems any prank-pulling by his players would have inevitably ended in getting caught by Ferguson, who was seeming an omnipresence as a manager.

Indeed, the pen is mighty than the sword, and Fergie knew this, too.

At Aberdeen, Ferguson won the Scottish league three times and won two European cups. With Manchester United, the 76-year-old won 49 trophies, the most successful reign by a manager Britain has ever seen.

The Man United legend is now intensive care at a Salford hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage over the weekend. The most recent reports suggest that he's awake, sitting up and talking.

We all wish the great man all the very best in his recovery.
