Sergio Ramos has reportedly received death threats for his part in Mohamed Salah's injury in the Champions League final.

The Real Madrid and Spain captain is unpopular at the best of times, but his clash with the Salah has made matters worse.

In the Champions League final - a game which Liverpool lost 3-1 thanks to a couple of blunders by their goalkeeper Loris Karius and a brilliant overhead kick by Welshman Gareth Bale (can we just take a second to appreciate that strike?) - Ramos went in hard on Salah, the pair falling down with arms interlocked. This injured arguably Liverpool's biggest threat and put Salah's World Cup future in doubt.

This has majorly annoyed a number of supporters, with it now reported by Spanish outlet Cadena COPE that the Real Madrid captain and his family are receiving death threats because of his part to play in Salah's injury.

It's thought that Ramos' family has now had to change their phone numbers because of nuisance phone calls and police have opened an investigation.

33-year-old Ramos was vilified after the Champions League final. Many people called into his question his integrity, saying that he intended to injure Salah, that he has history in attempting to nullify the opponent's biggest threat by injuring him.

All this, of course, is nonsense. Ramos is a hard-hitting player who will do anything he can to win a game - outside of breaking the rules.

But to suggest that he went out of his way to injury a player is plain nonsense. The hassle that his family has been getting is nothing short of disgraceful.
