It's been a tough time for Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla, but the Spaniard has revealed he's made huge strides towards making a return to football.

The 33-year-old has featured just 32 times in three years, having been plagued by injuries at Arsenal. He is a fan favourite but with his contract up at the end of the season, there is the fear that we will never see Cazorla play in an Arsenal shirt again.

After the north London side's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid last week, boss Arsene Wenger said via Arsenal.com. "He feels well. But he needs a full preparation and pre-season to try to come back. Will he come back, and where? I don't know. Will he stay at Arsenal? I don't know."

It's not the news we want to hear. Currently, the former Villareal player is training with Real Oviedo as he looks to get back into match sharpness after a lengthy absence.

"I've still got some way to go because after being side-lined for 18 months, everything has to be done in its own time," he said via AS.

"But the sensations I have to keep getting better and I'm feeling optimist about the future. The objective is to play some part with the team before the season ends, but we have to take things carefully."

That's some call. To have the popular player make a return and play for the Gunners before he sets off would be class. And it's safe to say, Arsenal fans on Twitter are eager to have their Santi back in the famous Red and White strip.
