Cristiano Ronaldo's sister, Katia, has revealed that the name 'Messi' is banned in the household.

Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are considered the world's best footballers. Some have a tough time in deciding who's the better player, whereas others are more adamant in their decision.

Ronaldo has league won titles in both the Premier League and La Liga, as well as having a major international trophy to his name.

Messi, however, has scored an unprecedented amount of goals for Barcelona, the club he's been at for his entire career. In his best season at the Nou Camp, he somehow scored 73 goals in 60 games.

He hasn't scored less than 40 goals in ten seasons now.

Ronaldo, too, has an astounding goal-record, but it arguably doesn't quite match Messi, leaving many to claim that the Argentina international is indeed the better player.

Now Ronaldo's sister has said that the 'M-word' is banned in the Ronaldo home.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Ronaldo's sister Katia said: "We don't talk about Messi inside the house."

"Cristiano knows that outside the door, there's a whirlwind and he knows that, when he crosses the door from the outside to the inside, he is protected. This is where he recharges all his batteries."

A household ban on Messi's name highlights the importance that Ronaldo places in trying to topple his greatest rival.

She added in L'Equipe: "He's very focused, in his own bubble, but he's also very anxious. He plays the match out in his head, thinks about how things will happen.

"There are some who play until the age of 37. Cristiano is not a machine, but he will continue to play while he can, I think for three or four more years.

"Cristiano has always been a perfectionist, he's always seeking to be the best, to do everything to win. But aside from that, he is really reserved."

That's interesting insight into a man which some consider to be a little bit full of himself. It's fair to say that 'reserved' is one word you'd traditionally not associate with the Portugal international.
