Roma Announce New Signing, IKEA Mercilessly Troll Them

Roma Announce New Signing, IKEA Mercilessly Troll Them

This is quite a burn from IKEA.

AS Roma have had a fraught time in the summer transfer window so far - and what IKEA did to them likely won't help matters for the side.

The Italian giants were about to announced marquee signing Malcom from Bordeaux when Barcelona ruthlessly pulled the rug from under them and signed the highly-rated attacker for themselves, in a transfer worth a reported to be around €41 million.

And so the social team for Roma decided to offer their supporters some comic relief from their foes. When they announced the signing of Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen from FC Copenhagen for €12m - a replacement for Alisson, who left to Liverpool for around £65 million.

AS Roma thought that good would come of using the Swede's nationality as a source of fun, suggesting that they had bought him from IKEA and would have to piece him together like furniture bought at the store.

But IKEA hasn't responded well to the jibe, and so took to social media to bite back at last year's Champion League semifinalist.

AS Roma got their own back somewhat.

And it's gone down like wildfire on social media.

Quite a massive burn, in fairness, but maybe a little harsh on AS Roma supporters, who have seen their club's top target slip away at the last moment.
