Rio Ferdinand has left a Scottish fan red-faced after the former England defender received grief online over his belief that the Three Lions could win Euro 2020.
The ex-Manchester United man retweeted the Scottish supporter's message from two weeks ago which called him 'arrogant' for saying that the Gareth Southgate's side could triumph in the tournament.
The fan took to Twitter after the England versus Scotland group game last month to write to Ferdinand: "Dear Rio, when you have removed your arrogant head from your a****e, maybe you'll want to re-think things like this."

Ferdinand, now a pundit, has since hit back, with his tweet mocking the fact that Scotland have since been knocked out of the tournament, while England are one game away from the final.

Ferdinand said: "Hi Freddie... Hope your still enjoying watching the highlights of England vs Scotland at home 2 weeks later."
Internet searches for Denmark flags have increased by nearly 10 times pre-Euro 2020 levels in Scotland ahead of England's semi-final clash with the Danes on Wednesday.

And Danish pop star Whigfield has also attempted to recruit the Tartan Army into supporting Denmark.
Scottish fans reworked Whigfield's 'Saturday Night' to serrande goalkeeper David Marshall during their brief Euro 2020 campaign.
And Whigfield said: "We need all the support we can get. It would be amazing if Scots can back us at home or even in the stadium.
"My dream is that Denmark win 2-1 and Scotland fans sing Saturday Night at Wembley again."

But Ferdinand remains confident of progression for England and victory against Italy in the final.

"I believe England beat both of these sides," he said. "I just don't feel anyone can compete with us right now.
"The confidence we've got; people might say I'm getting carried away. I don't care.
"The way we are playing we beat both of these teams, but we've got to get through Denmark first."
